European stock markets closed the week on a subdued tone as investors processed a decline in U.K. retail sales, anticipating the upcoming release of eurozone inflation data.
At 03:40 AM ET (07:40 AM GMT), Germany's DAX index was down 1%, France's CAC 40 decreased by 1.2%, and the U.K.'s FTSE 100 traded 0.9% lower.
